Mentorship

 Mentorship

Leading by example, shaping the leaders of tomorrow

At the Inner Light Foundation, we believe that when given the opportunity, individuals are capable of achieving anything they put their mind to. By working together and engaging through open conversation, we create a unique bond formed by trust and understanding with the individuals we work with.

Through mentorship, we aim to create the opportunity for open communication and foster a nurturing environment. We believe this is key in guiding individuals towards excellence. Our goal as a team of mentors is to connect with youth and allow them to explore a variety of topics and issues concerning the world around them.

Our Workshops

In order to connect with the younger youth, our mentors run workshops centralized around specific themes to teach students the necessary skills that would help them excel in and outside of the traditional classroom. Scroll down to see some of the activities we run during our workshops!

 Teamwork & Communication

Teamwork and communication was the key theme for the activity shown. Led by our mentors from Panorama Ridge Secondary, the students were tasked to build a tower using cups and sticks, while only one member was allowed to talk at a time.

 Social Awareness & Empathy

Social Awareness, responsibility, as well as empathy, are some of the themes that we focus on in our workshops. We believe that it is important for students to be aware of the world around them and to be able to understand the perspective of others.

In the video above we asked our students to create a Role- Play scenario in which they were tasked to display a conflict that they might see at school, and then follow it up with another skit on how they would resolve the situation.

 Engaging Through Open Conversation

An important aspect of our work is the opportunity we hold for open conversation. We believe that this type of engagement with the students, peers, and mentors, is vital to understanding one another and for creating a strong bond  between the mentees and the mentors.
